Web Page Design is a one semester course for juniors and seniors. Students learn about design, history, and creation of web pages from the ground up. This includes aesthetic and user interface design, as well as user experience, funcitonality, and basic coding. The course does not require previous coding or web design experience, and students get a foundation in this course.
Artist Portfolio Website
For students' first project, they created an artist portfolio website showcasing their own artwork. This was done with the Weebly editor, and could serve as an example to submit for college portfolio submissions.
App Design
Students used the iPad app Adobe Comp to lay out their app ideas, complete with user interface studies, properly paired fonts, icon placement and user experience studies, and color and images finally added!
Coding in HTML - Publicity Project
Students followed a series of guided tutorials on Codecademy to learn the basics of HTML. They then used their new coding knowledge to create a simple publicity website for a public figure or celebrity.
Restaurant Website
Students did a unit on user interface design and front end web page development. They created a fictional restaurant of their dreams, and created a mock up website for it!
Restaurant Website - Moodboard
As part of the process of designing their fictional restaurants, students created mood boards to dig deeper into their visual research, aesthetics, and branding.
